Why am I seeing the 'Free Security Update' pop-up?
This pop-up appears because your Trend Micro Antivirus isn't up to date.
How do I update Trend Micro Antivirus?
Follow these steps to update and secure your Mac:
- Check the Trend Micro Antivirus menu on the top right of your screen. If you see an Update option, click it.
- If there's no update option, click the Download Now button in the pop-up.
- Alternatively, you can Download Antivirus for Mac version 11.8.1283 here.
- Open the downloaded .dmg file, then click Install Trend Micro Antivirus.
- In the pop-up that appears, click Open and then Allow to proceed.
- Click Continue after reading the Introduction.
- Review the Privacy and Personal Data Collection Disclosure, then click Continue.
- Read the Software License Agreement, click Continue, then click Agree.
- Enter your activation code, then click Continue.
- Click Install, enter your Mac password, and then click Install Software.
- Wait for the installation to complete, then click Close.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Helper Tool:
- Enter your Mac password, then click Install Helper.
- If you clicked Cancel by mistake, click Try Again and enter your password.
- If the Helper Tool isn't installed, you'll see this pop-up each time you restart your Mac or open the Antivirus.
- After installation, the main menu will appear. Click Allow Full Disk Access and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Click Quit & Reopen to start using Trend Micro Antivirus with full protection.
What if I see 'Incompatible Software Found'?
This error means there's another antivirus program on your Mac. Remove it to prevent slowdowns and security risks.
What should I do if 'System Extensions Blocked' appears?
If this error shows up, you need to allow the Trend Micro Network Extension to ensure full protection. Follow the on-screen prompts to resolve this.
