What is Client Key?
The Client Key in Trend Micro ID Protection is essential for your account security. It acts as a secure license key, verifying your identity when used alongside your password. It is necessary when setting up the Vault feature on new devices, ensuring secure password management.
How to Locate Client Key
For Mobile Users:
- During initial setup of Vault Feature: It prompts you to save your Client Key. Which is saved in the default album of your mobile device, ensuring easy access as needed.
- Open Photos/Gallery.
- Locate Saved Client Key photo.
- Using Mobile App:
- Launch ID Protection Mobile App
- Access the Vault
- Tap the icon located in the top right corner.
- You should now be able to view your Client Key or scan the QR code, with the option to save it to your photos.
For Desktop Users:
- During initial setup of Vault Feature: It prompts you to save your Client Key in PDF format. Which is saved in the default downloads location, ensuring easy access as needed.
- Go to the downloads folder on your device.
- Find the Client Key file named "ID Protection client key *****."
- Alternatively, you can access browser downloads and locate the file there.
- Using Browser Extension:
- Access ID Protection browser extension
- Access the Vault
- Tap the icon located in the top right corner.
- You should now be able to view your client key or scan the QR code, with the option to save it as PDF.
Keep it safe where you can always find it!
- Your client key is unique, and we don’t keep a copy.
- You will need it to set up your vault on new devices.
- Make sure not to share your Client Key with anyone else.
