What is Scam Radar?
Scam Radar is a feature in Trend Micro ScamCheck that helps protect you from online scams while you use your phone or other digital devices. It examines texts, emails, links, and images to detect scams. Unlike regular tools, it can spot tricks like emotional manipulation or pressure tactics used to deceive people.
How Does Scam Radar Work?
Scam Radar runs in the background to guard you against scams. To start using it, enable these features in Trend Micro ScamCheck:
Once activated, Scam Radar scans your calls, messages, and web activity for signs of scams. Powered by advanced AI, it understands the tone and intent behind messages to catch scams before they reach you.
When a potential scam is detected, you will now see a redesigned alert that displays Red Flags highlighting what makes the message suspicious, along with Safety Tips tailored to your specific situation to help you stay protected.
What Types of Scams Can Scam Radar Detect?
Scam Radar can detect various scams, including:
- Investment Scams – Promises of high returns with little risk.
- Loan Scams – Fake lenders offering easy approvals for upfront fees.
- Romance Scams – Emotional manipulation to build trust and request money.
- Government Impersonation Scams – Fraudsters posing as officials to pressure you into urgent action.
These are just a few examples — Scam Radar is constantly evolving to recognize new and emerging scam tactics.
How to Provide Feedback on Scam Radar Alerts?
When you receive a ScamCheck alert, you’ll see detailed information, including:
- Red Flags — Highlights what made the message or activity suspicious
- Safety Tips — Actionable guidance tailored to your specific situation
- Help Resources — Additional support options if you’ve already lost money
At the bottom of the alert, you’ll see the question: “Was this alert helpful?”
• Providing Positive Feedback
- Tap the thumbs up icon (👍) at the bottom of the alert if it was helpful and accurate.
- This lets us know the detection was correct and that the Red Flags and Safety Tips were relevant.
• Providing Negative Feedback
- Tap the thumbs down icon (👎) at the bottom of the alert if the alert was not helpful.
- A feedback form will appear asking: "Why was this alert not helpful?"
- Select the reason that best describes your experience:
- Not sure why I received it — The reason for the alert wasn't clear
- It didn't feel relevant to me — The alert wasn't applicable to your situation
- I already knew all the information — You were already aware of the risks mentioned
- It had too much text to read — The alert was too lengthy
- It came too late — You received the alert after the suspicious activity occurred
- Other — Provide additional context about why the alert wasn't helpful
- Tap Submit to send your feedback.
