Microsoft has announced that all official support for the Windows Vista OS has ended on April 11, 2017, which includes all bug fixes and vulnerability patches. After April 11, any new vulnerability that may be discovered or targeted at Windows Vista will not be addressed by Microsoft and may be of concern to users, especially those who have not yet upgraded to the latest supported OS.
Trend Micro continues to recommend that users upgrade to the latest supported version of an OS as soon as possible, but also understands that not everyone is able to upgrade on a regular basis, especially on older machines. In order to help our consumers safely upgrade to the latest operating system, Trend Micro Security line of products can still be installed on Windows Vista machines but with limited technical support for issues that might be encountered.
Trend Micro Security products can no longer be installed or activated on Windows Vista; we recommend upgrading to a supported operating system like Windows 10 or 11 for continued protection and compatibility.
After the End of Support date, we will provide limited technical support for issues encountered on Windows Vista. You can visit our Support Website for technical solutions or can consider upgrading to the latest operating system to stay protected.
According to Microsoft, to take advantage of the latest hardware capabilities, they recommend moving to a new PC with Windows 11.
