The Pay Guard feature of your Trend Micro Security fails to launch and does not respond when you try to open it.

Why is this happening?

Insufficient resources, such as RAM or processing power, can prevent your computer from loading additional apps.

How do I fix this?

To fix the issue, do the following:

End active Pay Guard processes

  1. Press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys at the same time, then choose Task Manager.
  2. Locate uiProtectedBrowser.exe in the Processes tab.
  3. Right-click on the process and select Go to details.
  4. In the Details tab, right-click on the process and select End process tree.
  5. Click End process tree again in the confirmation dialog box.

Remove temporary Trend Micro files

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows + R keys at the same time to open the Run window.
  2. Type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
  3. When the User Account Control window appears, click Yes.
    This will open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
  4. Select the (C) Uninstall tab.
  5. Under Temporary Files, click 2. Delete now, then click 3. Delete now.
  6. Restart your computer.

Re-install Trend Micro Toolbar

Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome browser.
  2. Click the Menu icon ( ⋮ ) in the upper-right corner, then select Extensions.
  3. Choose Manage Extensions.
  4. Click Remove for Trend Micro Security.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge browser.
  2. Click the Menu icon ( … ) in the upper-right corner, then select Extensions.
  3. Click Remove for Trend Micro Security.
