If you recently renewed your Trend Micro subscription but are still receiving renewal reminder emails or seeing pop-up notifications, don’t worry. This usually happens when the renewed subscription has not yet been fully synced with your device or account.

This guide will help you verify your subscription status and resolve common causes of continued reminders.

Before You Begin

Please have the following ready:

  • Access to your Trend Micro Account
  • Your activation code (from your renewal confirmation email)
  • The device where you are seeing the notification
  • A stable internet connection

Step 1: Confirm Your Subscription Is Active

  1. Sign in to your Trend Micro Account.
  2. Go to Licenses tab and check the Subscription Status.
  3. Confirm the expiration date reflects your recent renewal.

What This Means
If the expiration date has been extended, your renewal was successful. If it has not changed, your renewal may be linked to a different account (see Step 3).

Step 2: Manually Update the Activation Code (If Needed)

If your account shows the correct renewal date but your device still shows reminders:

  1. Open your Trend Micro program/application.
  2. Locate the Subscription Information by clicking the expiry date on the lower-right corner
  3. Select Change your activation code (or similar option).
  4. Enter the renewed activation code from your confirmation email.
  5. Restart the program/application.

Why This Works
Sometimes the program continues referencing the old subscription key. Re-entering the activation code forces the software to sync with the updated license.

Step 3: Check for Multiple Accounts

One of the most common causes of renewal reminders is having:

  • More than one Trend Micro account
  • Multiple subscriptions under different email addresses
  • A new subscription purchased instead of renewing the existing one

How To Verify

  • Search your inbox for Trend Micro purchase confirmation emails.
  • Confirm the email address used for renewal matches the account logged into your device.
  • Log out and log back in to the program/application with the correct account if necessary.

Step 4: Verify Auto-Renewal and Billing Status

If you are receiving renewal reminder emails:

  1. Confirm whether Auto-Renewal is enabled.
  2. Check if you received a payment confirmation.
  3. Ensure your payment method was successfully processed.
  4. If payment failed, your subscription may not have updated despite attempting renewal.

Step 5: Check Device Sync Issues

If your subscription is active but pop-ups persist:

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Ensure your internet connection is active.
  3. Update your Trend Micro program to the latest version.
  4. Check your system date and time settings (incorrect system time can cause license verification issues).

Step 6: Identify Non-Trend Micro Pop-Ups

Some browser notifications or third-party ads may appear similar to security warnings.
If the pop-up:

  1. Opens in a web browser
  2. Requests unrelated downloads
  3. Contains unusual branding or grammar errors

It may not be from Trend Micro.
Avoid clicking suspicious pop-ups and run a system scan if unsure.
