Learn how to fix the Page Rating Highlight of Trend Micro Toolbar even if Trend Micro program is enabled.
Why did this happen?
- The page rating highlight feature is not yet enabled in Trend Micro Toolbar settings.
- You have conflicting or malicious browser extensions installed.
- Your web browser is not updated to the latest version.

Switch ON/OFF Highlight links when Trend Micro rates them
- Click the Trend Micro Toolbar icon on your web browser, then choose Settings.
- Under Web Threat Protection, toggle the switch beside Highlight rated links to turn it ON or OFF .
Turning it OFF will still let you see the safety rating of page links, but it will not be highlighted. It will not have any security risks.

How do I get rid of it?
Remove these suspicious browsers extensions manually on your web browser:
Remove browser extensions in Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the menu button ⋮ > More Tools > Extensions.
- Find the extensions you suspect as harmful.
- Click Remove.

- Open Mozilla Firefox.
- Click the menu button ☰, > Add-ons and Themes > Extensions.
- Find the extensions you suspect as harmful.
- Click the menu button … of the extension, then choose Remove.
Remove browser extensions in Microsoft Edge
- Click the menu button … > Extensions.
- Find the extensions you suspect as harmful.
- Click Remove under the extension, then click Remove again to confirm.
Remove browser extensions in Safari
- Open Safari.
- Click on Safari on the top menu bar.
- Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the Extensions tab in the Preferences window.
- Find the extensions you suspect as harmful.
- Click the extension, then click Uninstall.

Run a scan
- Open Trend Micro, then click the arrow beside the Scan tool and choose your preferred scan:
- Quick Scan checks on directories where viruses are most likely to hide on your computer.
- Full Scan checks every file and folder on your computer.
- Custom Scan lets you select which folder or file you want to scan.
- When the scan completes, a Scan Results page appears, showing File Scanned, as well as Threats resolved.
Schedule a scan
- Click Settings .
- Click the Scheduled Scans tab.
- Check Conduct a scheduled scan of the computer, then choose Set a specific schedule.
- Set your desired date and time, and the type of scan you want to run.
- Click Apply, then click OK.
Scan a specific file or folder
- Right-click on the specific file or folder that you want to scan and then click Scan for Security Threats.
The scan window will appear on the lower right part of the screen. Wait for the scan to finish.

Clear Cache and Cookies on Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the menu button ⋮ > More Tools > Clear browsing data.
- On the Clear browsing data window, select which time range you want to clear.
- Put a check beside Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, and then click Clear data.
Clear Cache and Cookies on Mozilla Firefox
- Open Mozilla Firefox.
- Click the menu button ☰, then select Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security, scroll to Cookies and Site Data, and then click Clear Data.
- Check both Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content, and then click Clear.
- A confirmation box will appear. Click Clear Now to proceed.

- Click Shortcut tab.
- On the Target field, remove the excess string aside from the shortcut link of the browser.
