Data Usage helps you monitor how much Internet data you use from your cellular, roaming, or Wi-Fi services. It can help you avoid extra charges by letting you know if you have exceeded or will soon exceed your data plan limits. This feature does not prevent you from making or receiving phone calls, nor does it affect Wi-Fi connections.

The amount of data shown in Mobile Security may still differ from your actual usage, even if you always keep the app running in the background. If this happens, Trend Micro cannot take responsibility for any data fees charged by your cellular network provider for your data plan. Please contact your mobile network provider if you have questions or concerns about your cellular or roaming data usage.


Setup/Change Data Usage Settings

You can track cellular, roaming, and Wi-Fi data usage using Mobile Security. When properly set up, Data Usage can show you how much data you have used for a specific time period and how much is still available.

  1. On your device, open the Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Data Usage.
  3. Tap Cellular, then the Data Usage Setting icon.
    • For Data Plan, switch on Unlimited Plan if your data plan has no limitations. If your data plan has limitations, switch off Unlimited Plan then provide your data plan limit.
    • For Billing Cycle, specify your billing time period. Check the bill from your cellular provider to find it.
    • For Alert, set at least one reminder to let you know when you have almost exceeded your data plan.
    • For Adjust Current Usage, you can specify how much data you have already used during the current month.
  4. Tap Roaming, then the Data Usage Setting icon. Switch on Match Cellular Data Settings to use the same settings as those you set up in Cellular. If you have a different plan, you can switch off Match Cellular Data Settings and set up a billing cycle and alert settings specifically for Roaming.

    Make sure to enable Location Services for Mobile Security.

  5. Tap Wi-Fi, then the Data Usage Setting icon. Switch on Match Cellular Data Settings to use the same settings as those you set up in Cellular. If you have a different plan, you can switch off Match Cellular Data Settings and set up the billing cycle specifically for Wi-Fi.

Change Data Usage History

You can see how much data you use every day, month, or year for cellular, roaming, and Wi-Fi services, as well as your average use.

  1. On your device, open the Mobile Security app.
  2. On the main screen, tap Data Usage.

Change Cellular Data Settings

You can change your cellular data settings to allow or prevent apps from using your cellular network connection to send or receive data.

  1. Go to your phone Settings > Cellular.
    • Turn cellular data ON or OFF for specific apps by tapping the app name.
    • Turn cellular data ON or OFF for ALL of your apps. With cellular data switched OFF, all your apps will use Wi-Fi to send or receive data.
