How to Keep Your Browsing Safe on iPhone and iPad with Web Guard

Web Guard is a helpful feature in Trend Micro Mobile Security that protects you while browsing the Internet on your iPhone or iPad. It blocks unwanted websites, helping you and your family stay safe online.

How Web Guard Works

Web Guard uses a local analyzer to filter all network traffic from your device when using the Trend Micro VPN. You will see a VPN icon on your status bar when Web Guard is enabled.

Here’s a simple guide to using Web Guard effectively.

Turning on Web Guard

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app on your device.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Switch the toggle to On.

Blocking Unwanted Websites

With Web Guard activated, you can block unwanted websites. Here’s how:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Select VPN Settings, then choose Trend Micro Web Safe.

Setting Up Parental Controls

To keep your children safe online, you can set up parental controls:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Select VPN Settings, then choose Trend Micro Parental Controls.
4. Choose the age group that fits your child.
5. Create a Parent Key to prevent your child from changing the settings.

Managing Blocked Websites

If you need to manage the list of blocked websites:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Select Blocked Websites History.
4. Here, you can view all blocked sites. Tap Edit on the upper right.
5. To remove a site, tap on it and select Remove.

Allowing Access to Certain Websites

If you want to allow access to a blocked website:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Select Approved List.
4. Tap the Add Website button.
5. You can either Add from Blocked Websites History or Add Manually.
6. Tap Add to confirm.

Reporting Suspicious Websites

If you come across a website that seems suspicious, you can report it:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Select Report a Suspicious Website.
4. Enter the address of the website.
5. Tap Send to submit your report.

Resetting the Parent Key

If you forget your Parent Key, you can reset it:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Tap on Reset Parent Key.
4. Follow the prompts to create a new key.

Note: A Trend Micro Account login is required to reset the Parent Key.

Turning Off Web Guard

If you need to turn off Web Guard temporarily:

1. Open the Trend Micro Mobile Security app.
2. Tap on Web Guard.
3. Switch the toggle to Off.

Note: Once Web Guard is disabled, you will no longer benefit from its protection against unsafe websites. Disabling Web Guard may expose your device to potential risks. It is strongly advised to keep Web Guard enabled to ensure a secure browsing experience.
