Web Guard lets you filter content when you are using your preferred browser. It uses a local Virtual Private Network, or VPN on your iOS/iPadOS device with almost no impact to the network speed.
How it works
It uses a local analyzer to filter all network traffic from your device when using the Trend Micro VPN. You will see a VPN icon on your status bar when Web Guard is enabled.
Turn ON Web Guard
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, then tap the Turn ON Web Guard button.
- Tap Web Guard needs permission before you can use this feature, then select Allow.
- Provide your Touch ID or Face ID to switch it ON.
Block unwanted websites
Mobile Security can block unsafe websites so you can browse securely.
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, then tap Trend Micro Web Safe.
Block explicit content
When your kids use your device, you can limit what websites they can visit depending on their age:
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, then tap VPN Settings.
- Tap Trend Micro Parental Controls.
- Select your kid's age:
- Teen
- Pre-Teen
- Child
- Custom
- Set up a 4-digit key, or what we call a Parent Key.
This key is needed if they try to visit explicit websites.
Check what websites Web Guard blocked
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, tap Blocked Websites.
You will see a list of websites your child tried to visit that Web Guard successfully blocked.
Allow website access
You can add websites you think is safe to visit, but Mobile Security recommends to block it.
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, tap Approved Websites.
- Tap Add Website.
You can either:- Tap Add from Blocked Websites to add from the list of filtered websites.
- Tap Add Manually to type website address manually.
Report a suspicious website
If you notice Web Guard did not block a potentially malicious website, you can report it to our Site Safety Center to categorize its rating:
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, then tap Report a Suspicious Website.
- Type the website address or you can also paste the link you copied.
- Tap Send.
Reset Parent Key
A Trend Micro Account login is required to reset the Parent Key:
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard, tap Reset Parent Key.
- Type your Trend Micro login password, then tap OK.
- Set up a new 4-digit Parent Key, then retype it to confirm.
How to Turn Off Web Guard
- Tap the Mobile Security app.
- Tap Web Guard.
- Then tap Turn off button to disable Web Guard.
Note: Once Web Guard is disabled, you will no longer benefit from its protection against unsafe websites. Disabling Web Guard may expose your device to potential risks. It is strongly advised to keep Web Guard enabled to ensure a secure browsing experience.
