How to use Trend Micro Fraud Buster on iPhone or iPad

Camera Roll Scan

Camera Roll Scan allows you to scan up to three photos on your Camera Roll folder for malicious links.

1. Tap the Mobile Security app.
2. Tap Fraud Buster, then tap Camera Roll Scan.
   If it is your first time to use Camera Roll Scan:
   1. Read the Data Collection Notice, then tap Agree.
   2. Tap OK to allow access to your photos.
3. Select the photos you want to scan, then tap Done.
4. Wait for the scan to finish.
5. It will show if the link is safe or risky or if it does not have a link included.

   

If the link on the results page is different from the link on the scanned photo, you can edit the link and rescan it:

1. On the results page, tap the Edit button beside the link.
2. Edit the link, then tap Rescan.
3. Wait for the scan to finish.

Scan latest screenshots

Screenshot Scan allows you to scan the latest screenshot taken on your iOS/iPadOS device.

1. Tap the Mobile Security app.
2. Tap Fraud Buster, then tap Camera Roll Scan.
3. Tap Screenshot scan settings.
4. Switch ON Screenshot Scan.
   A pop up message will appear if Web Guard is turned OFF. Tap OK to turn it ON.

5. Take a screenshot with your iOS/iPadOS device.
6. Tap the Screenshot scan notification.
7. Wait for the scan to finish.

iMessage Scan

iMessage Scan filters messages (SMS and MMS) from iMessage for spams. Once it detects a spam link, it will place the iMessage to the iMessage Spam Folder.

1. Go to Settings.
2. For iOS 17, tap Messages in the left pane. For iOS 18, tap Apps first, then tap Messages.
3. Scroll down on the right pane to see the MESSAGE FILTERING section, then tap Unknown & Spam.
4. Switch ON Filter Unknown Senders.
5. Tap Mobile Security, then tap Enable.

Note: The iMessage Scan feature isn't available on iPads due to limitations.

Link Scanner

Link Scanner scans links to check if it is safe or malicious.

1. Copy the link you suspect is malicious.
2. Tap the Mobile Security app.
3. Tap Fraud Buster.
4. Tap the Camera Roll Scan tab, tap the Link Scanner icon .
5. Paste the link, then tap Scan.
6. Wait for the scan to finish.
   The result will either be:
   • Safe: You can visit the link anytime.
   • Not Safe: You are warned not to go to this page because it has security risks.
   • No Address Found: The link you typed or pasted is no longer available or has the incorrect format.
