How to Upgrade

If your computer isn't running Windows 10 or 11 yet, you should know that Microsoft has officially ended support for Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, and XP. This means that Trend Micro's ability to keep you safe on these older systems is limited.

Here’s a simple way to get the latest version running:

  1. Uninstall the current Trend Micro app from your device.
    1. Press WINDOWS + R on your keyboard to open the 'Run' window.
    2. Type supporttool.exe and click OK.
    3. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
    4. Select the (C) Uninstall tab, then click 1. Uninstall Software.
    5. Click Yes, and remember to copy your serial number/activation code for future reference.
    6. Check the box that says I copied my serial number, then click Uninstall.
    7. Click Yes to restart your computer and complete the uninstallation.
  2. Go to your Trend Micro Account portal, then sign in with your email address and password.
  3. Go to the Download tab, then find and download your product.

  4. Click Download to This Device from the pop-up to start the installation process.
  5. Follow the installation instructions, then enter your account details to activate the protection.

Tip: Upgrading is FREE as long as your subscription is active — no extra charges!

Having Trouble Upgrading? Don’t Worry!

If the upgrade doesn’t go as planned:

  • Installer won’t run? → If the installer won’t run, check that your PC is running a supported Windows version (Windows 10 or 11 recommended).
  • Activation doesn’t work? → If activation doesn’t work, double-check your Activation Code.
